A girl scout on Staten Island is honored for her work with the special needs community.

17 -year -old Jocelyn Chin has been named a 2018 Future Woman of Distinction.

Jocelyn became a girl scout at the age of five. She is now working toward her Gold Award, the highest honor in girl scouting.

Jocelyn designed a service project that connects adults living with disabilities to high school students.

Since September Jocelyn and group of volunteers have been giving free weekly music lessons at the Lifestyles For The Disabled Center. ​

"It is such a gratifying experience and I am so glad that they get the same reaction and they enjoy it as much as I do when we come every Monday, " said Jocelyn.

The group is working toward a musical performance for the community .
