Four arrested

NEW YORK - Four people are facing drug charges after a dramatic police chase Thursday that stretched from Manhattan to the Bronx.

Police say it started with a vehicle stop near 46th Street and 12th Avenue.

Two DEA agents and a state police officer had been tracking Jamarky Almanzar as part of a larger drug investigation.

Authorities say he rammed into the agents' car and sped off on the West Side Highway.

Sources tell NY1 the officers fired three shots in response.

The chase ended when Almanzar crashed at Lakeview Place and Broadway in the Riverdale section of the Bronx.

Police then went to a building on 262nd Street, where they uncovered a heroin operation.

Almanzar and three other people were arrested.

"We were able to box him in, stop him, arrest him, and we then moved on to a set of individuals that are related to him that we discovered through the investigation. We identified those individuals, we arrested those three individuals and while performing a search warrant discovered the large scale heroin operation that we anticipated," said DEA Second Line Supervisor Nicholas Palmeri.

In addition to Almanzar, the other three people arrested were Jomar Farino, Wellington Brito and Jonathan De Jesus.
