A Bronx woman was arrested Tuesday for killing her five-month-old baby, the city police department said.

Police said they found Raymond Porfil unconscious in his crib in an apartment on Bronx River Ave. near East 174th St. around 10 a.m. on June 4.

Sources said Joann McLeod, 30, the boy's mother, admitted to throwing the child against a wall.

The NYPD said this was part of ongoing abuse and neglect.

The baby was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

McLeod has been charged with murder.

"Our top priority is protecting the safety and wellbeing of all children in New York City. We are investigating this case along with the NYPD and have taken action to secure the safety of the other child in this home," a spokeswoman for the Administration for Children's Services said.

The spokeswoman did not confirm if the agency has previously investigated the home and whether McLeod has other children.
