Just a head of Autism Awareness Month, students from a Bronx school take to the streets to raise awareness.

Kids from Howard Haber Learning Center marched around the community Thursday.

The center provides educational services to children on the Autism spectrum.

Officials say the parade gives students the sense of unity and inclusion.

As the students walked, they displayed a banner they created earlier in the week. Their goal is educate residents about Autism.

"Most people don't understand these children need special help, just so they learn how to be comfortable and go out and face the world and speak to other children," said Parent Mercedes Nadal.

The parade was part of a week-long celebration, which featured fundraisers, a bake sale and art projects.
