WASHINGTON - Senators Charles Schumer and Kristen Gillibrand send a letter to Con Edison demanding answers after thousands of New Yorkers were left without power for over a week.

The senators called the utility's response to restoring power after last week's storm "inexcusable".

In the Bronx alone, more than 200 Con Edison customers are waiting for their electricity to be restored.

High winds and heavy snow caused downed trees and power lines.

The utility says it expects to have the lights back on by Saturday night.

"Our response is that we are laser-focused on the restoration of our customers in a safe and in as fast as possible manner. And my role as CEO is to ensure I lead the organization in a way that accomplishes that. That is what I'm focusing all of my attention on," said Con Edison CEO John McAvoy.

Con Edison says its priority is to restore service to customers who lost power from the first storm.

Con Ed predicts efforts will continue through the weekend.
