City officials are encouraging Bronx residents to sign up for an IDNYC card.

An enrollment event was held at Lincoln Medical Center in Mott Haven, where officials talked about the benefits of being a cardholder.

The card grants residents access to HIV and AIDS services as well as discounts on prescription drugs and YMCA and parks membership.

"This was quick, this was easy, this was a great opportunity and great experience. This a great program to make sure every New Yorker has an opportunity to feel like a part of the city," says Assemblyman Marcos Crespo.

"Not only is it very patriotic to say 'Hey, I'm from New York. This is my card,' But it also just makes you feel belong, you know, that you're from the city, this is your home," says IDNYC cardholder Ysel Vargas.

IDNYC cards are a government issued form of ID.

They're available to all city residents 14 and older—regardless of immigration status.
