Two months since Russia launched a full-on invasion of Ukraine, millions of people have been displaced and President Biden is signing off on new aid for Ukraine. For weeks, journalists have been reporting on the humanitarian crisis, including many independent reporters like Terrell Starr, who has been living on and off in Kyiv, Ukraine, for several years. He joined Errol Louis to share his experiences being on the ground and his insight into why Russian President Vladimir Putin invaded the country. And he shared his stories about being in Eurasia as a “Black man from Detroit” and how the conflict might continue to unfold. In a very candid conversation, Starr also opened up about his sexual identity, his mental health struggles and his future professional plans.
