The new voice behind the MTA's service announcements is unveiled, and it belongs to a Queens-native.

Velina Mitchell will serve as the MTA's new transit service announcer at the Rail Control Center.

She has already recorded more than a dozen announcements that are being rolled out into the system. Her voice can already be heard at select stations and on four new models of train cars.

The move is part of the MTA's efforts to improve communication with riders.

New MTA announcements will offer more detailed explanations for delays and crowding and issue apologies when service is disrupted.
