Rochester native and Aquinas grad Jalen Pickett was named unanimously as the MAAC's Men's Basketball Rookie of the Year Friday, the latest honor in a stellar season the freshman is currently having for the Siena.

The 6-foot-4 point guard is averaging nearly 16 points per contest — including a 46 point game against Quinnipiac — along with 4.6 rebounds and 6.7 assists. Despite being a freshman, Pickett has started 30 of 31 games for the Saints (16-15 overall, 11-7 in conference play).

The ROTY award is the latest honor for an impressive week for Pickett. On Monday, he became just the second freshman in conference history to get named to the All-MAAC first team. He was also a unanimous selection for the conference's all rookie-team.

Pickett also broke the conference record on Monday when he was announced as the MAAC Rookie of the Week for the 11th time this season.

Pickett and the Saints will look to keep their season alive when they tip off in the MAAC tournament Saturday night against Rider University at 9:30 p.m.
