Florida Congressman Ted Yoho has resigned from the board of directors for the Christian organization "Bread for the World," following backlash from comments he made to New York Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez on Capitol Hill last week.

The bipartisan organization, which targets hunger and poverty around the world, said in a statement that Yoho resigned on Friday.

The group thanked Yoho for his commitment to the group, but said his recent reported actions and words do not reflect the group's values.

Ocasio-Cortez accused Yoho of berating her on the steps of the Capitol, saying that Yoho called her a "f****** b****," as well as  "disgusting," "crazy," and "dangerous" for saying that poverty is connected to the spike in crime in New York City.

Yoho later claimed he apologized and denied cursing.

Cortez says both are not true.
