State Republican Chairman Ed Cox was lucky yesterday that we didn’t hear about the eruption of Claudia Tenney until after he appeared on NY1, allowing him to avoid questions about the implosion of the upstate congresswoman.

Tenney went on a dangerous tangent while speaking on Fred Dicker’s radio show about gun control, claiming: “And it’s interesting that so many of these people that commit the mass murders end up being Democrats. But the media doesn’t talk about that either.”

Well, the media – including this guy – is now talking about Tenney. While President Trump and Republicans like Florida Senator Marco Rubio are at least trying to listen to concerns about gun violence, Tenney is playing a dangerous blame game by claiming that Democrats are more likely to be mass murderers.

Tenney last night issued a rambling statement that only elliptically addressed her claim, noting: “While we know the perpetrators of these atrocities have a wide variety of political views, my comments are in response to a question about the failure to prosecute illegal gun crime.”

If she wants to be seriously considered for re-election this November, Tenney needs to come out and apologize for trying to link Democrats with crazy killers. And if Republicans want to at least appear like they’re listening, they need to say there’s no place for that kind of talk from their party.

We have a long way to go if we really all want to get along – and Claudia Tenney either needs to get on the bus or be shown the exit.

Note: The ItCH will be off for a couple of days and will be back next Tuesday!
