Amy Yensi joined the Spectrum News NY1 news team in April 2018 as the Bronx reporter.

Before NY1, Amy was a general assignment reporter at WJZ in Baltimore for three years. There, she earned an Emmy nomination for her coverage of the Freddie Gray riots.

She was the first reporter to get an on-camera interview with the grieving father of a Maryland sailor who was killed on a Navy destroyer.

Prior to working in Baltimore, Amy got her start as a multimedia journalist at News 12 The Bronx and Brooklyn, where she started as an intern and assignment desk editor.

The native New Yorker is thrilled to be back in the Bronx, where she was born and raised.

Amy earned her Master’s Degree from the CUNY Graduate School of Journalism and her Bachelor’s Degree in English from Hunter College.

She is a member of the National Association of Black Journalists and the National Association of Hispanic Journalists.

On her time off, Amy enjoys the theater, travel and dining out. The proud Dominican-American is still trying to master her grandmother’s recipe of sancocho.
