Ruschell Boone joined NY1 as the news channel's Queens Reporter in 2002.
Among the major news stories she has covered are the police shooting of Sean Bell, the impact of Hurricane Sandy, and the plight of the homeless living in the city's subway system.
In November 2014 she received the award for Best Spot News Reporting from the New York Association of Black Journalists for her in-depth look at the garbage problem in Jamaica, Queens. In 2013 she won the New York Press Club's award for Best Feature Reporting for her series on immigrant sports becoming popular in New York City.
Prior to joining NY1 Boone worked as a news associate for CNBC Business News, where she produced news updates and wrote for several shows. She went on to CNN, where she worked as an associate producer and assignment editor.
A native of Kingston, Jamaica, she emigrated to New York City as a child and attended Richard R. Green Junior High School and Harry S. Truman High School in the Bronx.
