NEW YORK - During a time when we're supposed to be "socially distant," social media seems to be a saving grace in connecting those in need with those who can help, people like Wyatt Hill.

It started with an Instagram post - the high school senior was just scrolling through when he saw an opportunity to volunteer with Invisible Hands. It's an organization that provides free and safe grocery delivery to those most vulnerable to the coronavirus.

"It's a risk that we are all willing to take, because if we don't do it, I don't know who will," Hill said.

The high school senior has made nearly a dozen deliveries in his Upper West Side community over the last couple of weeks - grabbing food, cleaning supplies, and medicine for those who need it most.

"They're so grateful. Some people even invite us in, which of course, we have to politely decline, but everyone is so grateful and the smile on their faces, it really just does make my day," Hill said.

The organization launched its website on March 14 - two friends were just brainstorming ways to help as the virus spread. Already more than a thousand volunteers across the five boroughs have signed up online - ready to lend an invisible hand.

"There are a lot of people who have to answer the big questions and solve the big problems and from our side we were like listen, if we can help get someone groceries and make that person's day a little bit easier then that's what we should do. We should do the grunt work so that other people can focus on the bigger things," said Simone Policano, Co-Founder of Invisible Hands.

For Wyatt and the rest of the volunteers it's an easy task to take on during this difficult time.

"I grew up in New York City - and I'm really helping other people on the Upper West Side and so just helping the communty that has done so much for me, that I've grown up in, it feels amazing and I'll help in any way that I really can," Hill said.

So, for making these uncertain times a little safer, Wyatt Hill and all of the Invisible Hands volunteers are our New Yorkers of the Week.
