A political action committee founded by former presidential candidate Pete Buttigieg endorsed Thursday Democratic Rochester state Senate candidate Samra Brouk.

The endorsement of Brouk was part of dozens of nods given by the Win the Era PAC this week.

“Samra Brouk has centered her career, and now her campaign, on a commitment to serving others. Samra will bring fresh ideas and her unique lived experience to better represent the people in her district," Buttigieg said. "Samra Brouk represents the next generation of leadership we need and brings the energy to be a unifying voice for the people of New York’s 55th Senate District."

Buttigieg is not the only former presidential candidate getting involved in state Senate races in New York. Jeremy Cooney, a Democrat running for an adjacent district.

Brouk is running to succeed outgoing Republican state Sen. Rich Funke.

“Pete Buttigieg showcased the next generation of leadership on the national level, and I am honored to have his support," Brouk said. "We need new voices with fresh perspectives to have a seat at the table, fighting for a better future for our communities. I look forward to serving as that leader for the 55th District as we fight for better healthcare, full education funding and economic development that focuses on working families."
