A 16-year-old teen has been arrested and charged with murder in connection with the shooting of a 13-year-old on Staten Island, officials said Tuesday.

The name of the teen who was charged was not immediately released by the NYPD.

The teen also faces assault, menacing and criminal use of a firearm charges, according to police.

Police identified the victim as Jamoure Harrell.

Police say the incident occurred just before 4 p.m. Friday at Dr. Maggie Howard Playground in Stapleton.

Harrell was taken to Richmond University Medical Center in critical condition on Friday, according to police.

Officials said Harrell died of his injuries Monday. But Donna Collins, who said she is a longtime friend of Harrell’s grandmother, told NY1's Victoria Manna that the boy is not dead.

“Jamoure is still in the hospital," Collins said. "He's not dead. His grandmother and his mother is by his side.”

Police did not respond to requests for comment.
