Nearly 100 city streets and plazas will close to car traffic on Halloween so young New Yorkers can trick or treat safely, officials said Monday.

Dozens of existing “Open Streets” in the Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan and Queens will be car-free between 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 31, the city’s Department of Transportation said.

DOT will also partner with the city’s Street Activity Permit Office to reserve two dozen additional sites for pedestrians during that time, the agency said.

The temporary program, dubbed “Trick or Streets,” will “allow families more public space and recreation in celebration of Halloween,” the DOT said on its website

“It is thrilling to build on the triumph of our thriving Open Streets this Halloween by providing greater access to safer, shared community spaces,” DOT Commissioner Ydanis Rodriguez said in a statement posted to the Department of Transportation's Twitter account.
