The 78th Annual Columbus Day Parade returns to Fifth Avenue in New York City Monday.
The parade, which is the nation’s largest celebration of Italian American heritage and culture, will run from 11:30 a.m. until 3 p.m.
Businessman and former politician Tom Golisano will serve as the 2022 Grand Marshal of the Columbus Day Parade. He will lead marching bands, floats and over 100 marching groups up the Fifth Avenue parade route — from 44th to 72nd Streets.
There will be several street closures (listed below) associated with the parade.
As for city services, there will still be trash pick-up for New Yorkers.
The city’s Department of Sanitation says that the department will be collecting trash and compost Monday, following its “on-holiday pick-up” program.
More than 1,500 sanitation workers volunteered to work Monday, according to the department.
The department will pick up recycling on Monday, Oct. 17 for those whose recycling is normally collected on Mondays.

Alternate side parking rules are suspended both Monday and Tuesday, according to the city’s Department of Transportation.
As for street closures, the NYPD announced several closures in Manhattan that will be in effect due to the parade.
According to the police, closures will be at the discretion of the NYPD.
