A man accused of stabbing a Queens mother to death before hiding her body inside a duffel bag has been indicted on charges including murder and concealment of a human corpse, prosecutors said Tuesday.

David Bonola, 44, was charged with two counts of second-degree murder, two counts of first-degree burglary, one count of fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, concealment of a human corpse and tampering with physical evidence in connection with 51-year-old Orsolya Gaal’s death, the Queens district attorney’s office said in a press release.

  • Bonola is accused of stabbing Gaal to death inside her Forest Hills home on April 16

  • Prosecutors say Bonola hid Gaal's body in a duffel bag and left the bag in a nearby park after he stabbed her

“This heinous murder left two teenagers without a mother and terrified an entire community,” Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz said in a statement. “The defendant has now been indicted and arraigned on very serious charges and faces a lengthy prison sentence if convicted.”

Bonola, a handyman who had had an “off and on” relationship with Gaal, stabbed her more than 55 times after the two got into an argument in the basement of her Forest Hills home on April 16, police said at a news briefing last month.

Bonola then hid Gaal’s body inside a duffel bag that belonged to one of her sons and wheeled it to Forest Park, where a passerby discovered it, according to police.

Investigators found Bonola’s jacket in Forest Park, and found the knife he allegedly used to stab Gaal hidden inside her home, prosecutors said.

Bonola could face up to 25 years to life in prison if he is convicted, the DA’s office said. He is expected to appear in court again on July 7.
