NEW YORK — People in Prospect-Lefferts Gardens were able to grab some of the go-to items for their Thanksgiving spread Saturday.

Charter Communications, NY1's parent company, sponsored the event, donating $3,000 to People Standing United Inc. to help with its annual Thanksgiving distribution event. The care packages included turkeys, canned goods and fresh produce.

Organizers said the event was crucial to help families feeling the financial strain from the pandemic.

"Events like this are very important coming out of COVID, because it is important we connect with one another as a community and that we get to see each other and share love," Democratic Brooklyn Assembly Member Diana Richardson said. "It is a time and season for giving."

There were lots of activities and entertainment for everyone, like a rock climbing wall, pony rides and some dancers walking around on stilts.
