A Bronx community is on edge as police continue to look for two men who posed as cops during a home invasion and robbery.

It happened around 7 A.M. Tuesday in the Country Club section of the Bronx.

Police say two men showed up at the home pretending to be NYPD officers.

What You Need To Know

  • Police say two men showed up to the victims' house in NYPD sweatshirts and with fake NYPD badges around their necks

  • The suspects zip-tied a man and women, then robbed their home and stole their car

  • The car was found Tuesday night, abandoned, about five minutes from home

They were wearing NYPD sweatshirts, and had fake badges around their necks, according to police.

Once they were allowed in, they zip-tied the man and woman, then they robbed their home and stole their car.

Police found the car abandoned about five minutes from the home Tuesday night.

“I didn’t see their face, they were covered,” said Mr. Cascerta, a neighbor. “I saw the back, the side.”

The incident has neighbors in the typically quiet area shaken up after a not so quiet day.

“I’m scared to live in my house now because I live here alone,” said Amalia Papastefanou, another neighbor. “My son lives two blocks from here. I’m scared now.”

Some neighbors say it’s yet another incident in a string of crimes. This one, they say, happened too close to home.

“There’s been a lot of break-ins with cars, robbing catalyst converters, if your doors are open on the cars, people are just walking by, taking your stuff,” said Barbara Sarlo.

“It’s terrible what’s happening,” said Cascerta. “Over here you can’t walk at night, now in the park too. The same thing, all over, you can’t go any place at night.”
