NEW YORK — The union representing JetBlue crew members has filed a lawsuit claiming the company violated state and city paid sick leave laws.

The Transport Workers Union claims the airline threatens disciplinary action against flight attendants who use sick days.

It also says attendants are asked to provide a doctor's note when taking a sick day.

Employers cannot require a doctor's note unless an employee calls in sick for three or more days in a row.

City and state laws require employers to grant up to 56 hours of paid time off a year.

Spectrum News NY1 has reached out to JetBlue for comment on the lawsuit.
