NEW YORK — A man is in custody in connection with a string of recent fires in Manhattan.

Police say they got a call about a fire at 4:14 a.m. Monday at the corner of West 19th Street and Eighth Avenue in Chelsea.

The outdoor dining structure at Loulou Petit Bistro & Speakeasy was destroyed, but nobody was injured.

Police took a man fitting the description of the alleged arsonist into custody.

They say they suspect him of starting 13 other fires in the area, mostly in garbage cans.

No charges have been filed yet.

A resident who spoke with NY1 said the suspect is well known in the area.

Loulou's will be closed two to three weeks for repairs.
