Jennifer Hudson, Bruce Springsteen and Paul Simon will headline the city’s ‘Homecoming’ concert in Central Park this August, Mayor Bill de Blasio announced Thursday.

“It’s going to be one of the greatest Central Park concerts in history,” de Blasio said at a news conference. “This is something you do not want to miss. This is something for the ages.”

Paul Simon’s return to the stage on the park’s Great Lawn will mark 30 years since his performance there in 1991, which was recorded as a live album and concert film.

The mayor lauded Jennifer Hudson, a Grammy and Oscar winner, as: “someone that captures the grit and determination that we’re all feeling as we fight through this crisis.”

Springsteen also helped usher in the city’s return with his reopening of “Springsteen on Broadway” last weekend.

“He is beloved in New York City in an extraordinary way even though he happens to come from New Jersey — no one’s perfect,” said de Blasio.

The mayor announced the concert back in June, where he also revealed it would be part of a citywide “Homecoming week” in celebration of the city’s return from the COVID-19 pandemic.

He also said that he anticipates the city’s vaccination numbers to rise by August, allowing a large crowd at the event where the maximum capacity is 60,000.

“We do obviously want to see a big crowd experience this,” said the mayor. “We’re going to do it in a safe manner. We intend to get a lot more people vaccinated between now and August.”

More details, including other artists who will perform at the event, will be announced at a later date, he said.
