Two women were killed in one of the two fires that broke out early Sunday morning in Manhattan.

The first happened in Washington Heights, where just before 1 a.m. firefighters rushed to control a blaze on the 32nd floor of a building on Audubon Avenue near West 178th Street. The two women - a 37-year-old and a 73-year-old - died this morning at local hospitals while being treated for smoke inhalation.

The FDNY is investigating what caused the fire.

Around the same time in East Harlem -- an all-hands on fire started on the fifth floor of a high rise on Paladino Avenue. Officials say it spread to multiple units before they got it under control. No injuries have been reported.
