NEW YORK - Subway ridership is nowhere near pre-pandemic levels, but the Metropolitan Transportation Authority announced a small example of returning to normal Wednesday.

Turnstyle inside the 59th Street Columbus Circle station has now reopened.

The MTA says getting the market back open was a priority despite subway ridership being down 70 percent.

They also say once ridership increases, it's looking create more underground markets like Turnstyle throughout the city, including at the Port Authority bus terminal.
