A single-engine sea plane crashed into a pier in Queens Sunday afternoon, critically injuring two people and killing one person, according to the NYPD.

EMS personnel and firefighters responded to the scene just after 3 P.M., removing the seriously injured passengers from the aircraft, treating them at the scene, and then transporting them to local hospitals, according the FDNY.

It is unclear why the plane went down, though fire officials say the plane slammed into a concrete pier.

The plane is now on land and not a fire hazard, according to authorities.

The FDNY says it happened near Powells Cove Boulevard and 158th Street in Whitestone, near the Throggs Neck Bridge.

The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) was notified about the crash. NTSB will determine the probable cause of the crash and will release all updates.
