A man from Queens is under arrest after bomb-making materials were discovered inside his home Tuesday.

The NYPD says Marak Squires, 37, is charged with reckless endangerment.

No assembled devices were found inside the home, authorities say, and he was taken to the hospital in stable condition.

The investigation all began when fire officials say a call came in for a fire on the first floor of the two-story home, located at 24-07 19th Street in Astoria, just before 2 p.m. Tuesday.

NYPD Deputy Commissioner John Miller said firefighters, and a landlord who inspected the apartment, found materials at the site "that raised some concern."

"That included a number of chemicals, a number of packages, a number of books and manuals that caused them to call for investigators," Miller said.

Debbie Riga lives next door to Squires. She told NY1 he always seemed secretive.

“It was more an instinct. I felt there was something not right,” Riga said. “I did have like kind of an intuition that there was something he was hiding, quite frankly.”

Mark Torre, the commanding officer of the NYPD's bomb squad, said while the materials were found, no improvised explosive device, or IED, had been assembled.

The home is directly across from Astoria Park. Many who walk in the park regularly were startled to hear the news.

“We were out here yesterday. We walked right by it. We didn’t even notice it. And then last night, the hazmat team was here, and this morning, I found out that there was, you know, a deranged person living a few steps from our house,” said another neighbor.

Investigators found Squires in a distraught emotional state. He was taken to a hospital in Manhattan for evaluation.

He is still in the hospital and has not yet been arraigned.

An investigation is ongoing.
