NEW YORK -  A couple of weeks into the academic year and six NYU students from the same dorm already have tested positive for COVID-19.

Those students were all residents of the freshman dorm Rubin Hall.

All residents of the hall are being asked to quarantine through Tuesday and will be retested Monday.

The University released a statement saying, “Those four students are being isolated in accord with our protocols. Our contact tracing process is underway, and close contacts are being quarantined."

Those isolating or quarantining won't be allowed into university buildings until cleared by the University's COVID-19 team.

NYU says it has been following protocols and testing extensively.

Currently students in campus housing are tested weekly.
