NEW YORK — The coronavirus pandemic has threatened the job security of tens of millions of Americans, and in the city more than 2 million New Yorker's lost their jobs. As we navigate this new normal together, we know many New Yorkers may be struggling to find work.

NY1 Anchor Roma Torre spoke with Blair Heitmann, a career expert with LinkedIn, about the different ways you can keep your resume fresh while seeking new employment in this pandemic.

Heitmann recommended tips for nailing virtual job interviews, as well as useful strategies to use during a job search. When it comes to putting your best foot forward for a job interview, Heitmann advised testing out the technology you'll be using. She also explained that those who are struggling to find employment should update their online presence.

Heitmann also discussed the ways job seekers can reduce gaps in their resume if they are unemployed as a result of the pandemic. But, she said, many others will be faced with the same gaps and it should not leave one discouraged.

"A gap in your resume, especially during this window, is not a bad thing. People understand what's happening right now and that a lot of people are out of work, so don't be discouraged by that." Heitmann said. "But the great thing to do is demonstrate what you've done in this time to make yourself more marketable and to really make sure you're ready to land that opportunity."
