Con Edison has agreed to pay a record settlement over its handling of two winter storms in 2018.
It comes as the embattled utility faces questions over its response to power outages caused last week by Tropical Storm Isaias.
The state Public Service Commission announced Thursday that Con Ed and an upstate power company will pay nearly $11 million for their poor response to power outages during back-to-back winter storms two years ago that left 293,000 New Yorkers without power.
Con Ed's portion of the settlement amounts to more than $9 million.
The settlement is the largest ever for failure to follow utility emergency response plans.
While the settlement is not related to Isaias, Governor Cuomo is calling for an investigation into Con Edison after more than 205,000 city and Westchester customers saw their power go out a the height of last week's storm.
It took the utility more than a week to restore power to all customers.
