NEW YORK - A group of police supporters wants to paint a "Blue Lives Matter" mural near NYPD headquarters in Lower Manhattan.

In a letter to the mayor, "Blue Lives Matter NYC" applauded Mayor Bill de Blasio for allowing a "Black Lives Matter" mural to be painted outside Trump Tower along Fifth Avenue.

Now the non-profit is asking permission to use its own funds and resources to paint a "Blue Lives Matter" mural at Madison and Pearl Streets near One Police Plaza.

The letter says the pro-police mural would "honor the lives and memory of public servants whose heroic lives ended too soon."

The letter also suggests an alternate location for the mural on Broadway at West 45th Street.

A City Hall spokesperson says the request is under review.
