NEW YORK - New York State courts are closing for all non-essential functions due to the outbreak.

Chief administrative judge Lawrence Marks says the closures will take effect at 5 p.m. Monday.

He says pending criminal and civil trials will continue until finished, but that no others will begin.

Eviction proceedings and pending eviction orders in the city's housing court will be suspended indefinitely.
