All masses in the Archdiocese of New York have been canceled, beginning this weekend, as coronavirus fears mount.

It comes after Dutchess County prohibited gatherings of more than 20 people on Saturday.

The Archdiocese of New York covers 10 state counties, including Manhattan, the Bronx and Staten Island.

Churches will stay open for private prayer.

St. Patrick's Cathedral will celebrate a private Mass that will be able to be watched on the Catholic Faith Network (on cable systems and the Catholic Faith Network website), and will also be streamed live on the St. Patrick's Cathedral website. Audio will also be available on Sirius XM's The Catholic Channel.

“Let us pray for all who are sick, as well as doctors, nurses, caregivers, and all those working hard to combat the disease. We should also remember those whose lives have been otherwise disrupted, especially anyone who has lost income from a loss of work during this difficult time,” said Timothy Cardinal Dolan, Archbishop of New York.
