Six-year-old King Singh is running full speed ahead, and it’s not something his family takes for granted.

“There were so many days we went through, we weren’t sure he was going to make it through the treatment,” said Shameeza Singh, King’s mother.

King was born with a rare, incurable blood disorder. When he was two, he was diagnosed with leukemia.

He endured three and a half years of treatment, taking up to 75 pills a month. He spent much of that time in a hospital bed.

Throughout his journey, his family shared his story on social media, creating the hashtag #KingStrong.

“I like that people are inspired by me," King told NY1.

King and his parents have focused a lot of attention on pediatric cancer.

He’s one of the youngest people to ring the bell at the New York Stock Exchange. He was named Police Chief for the Day at One Police Plaza.

January 24 was proclaimed King Singh day in the Borough of Queens. And he met Mayor de Blasio at Gracie Mansion.

His parents say King's efforts have helped to raise nearly $3 million for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society in hopes of one day finding a cure.

“Cancer is a very dark place,” said Michael Singh, King’s father. “So when I see my son smiling and happy and not thinking of all the stuff that comes with this cancer life, it just gives us the fuel to keep going.”

Last October, they celebrated a huge milestone in Times Square: King took his last chemo-pill. But he's not out of the woods yet. His parents say he’s still suffering from side-effects from his treatment. The family also has another burden — about $80,000 in medical debt. King’s father has been out of work since his treatment began.

“For anyone to have someone not working for three-and-a-half years is detrimental to the whole family," Michael Singh told NY1.

King and his family have no plans to stop his advocacy, though.

“Never give up and stay King Strong. You can do whatever you put your mind to,” King said.

For King, that includes becoming a chef, a model and a basketball player.
