BROOKLYN, N.Y. - The FDNY is investigating the cause of an early morning fire in Brooklyn that left one person dead.

The flames broke out just before 3:30 a.m. on the first floor of a four-story building located at 248 Adelphi Street in Fort Greene.

After the fire was put out, firefighters discovered an adult male unconscious and unresponsive inside the lobby.

Sources tell NY1 he was found with stab wounds.

EMS responded and pronounced the man dead at the scene.

The Medical Examiner will determine the cause of death.
