Update, December 17: Rep. Brindisi announced his support of impeachment on Tuesday morning.

There are few House Democrats in the country with bigger targets on their back than Max Rose of Staten Island, Antonio Delgado of the Hudson Valley, and Anthony Brindisi of central New York.

All three represent swing districts where support for President Trump runs deep, and they've already been subject to attack ads, which may explain why all three have wavered on this week's impeachment vote.

"This is the hardest decision I've ever made in my political career," said Brindisi.

Until Tuesday morning, Brindisi was one of the few House Democrats who was undecided. He said a tough rematch next year against Claudia Tenney, the Republican he unseated last year, was not a factor.

"Politics is not going to creep into this decision. What they voters decide to do in the next election is their business. That's democracy," said Brindisi.

Rose, whose district includes Staten Island and parts of south Brooklyn, announced Friday he'll vote yes, though his statement on the matter focused largely on his bipartisan record.

Delgado announced his support on Sunday. Meanwhile, several New York lawmakers are under political pressure from the other flank.

Congressman Jerry Nadler's central role in impeachment will likely blunt criticism from progressive activists. He's among a host of New York Democrats facing primary challengers on the left, including Eliot Engel of the Bronx, Grace Meng of Queens and Carolyn Maloney.

"This is not a party-line vote. This is a personal vote," said Rep. Carolyn Maloney.

For Maloney, the impeachment vote is a no-brainer. She says more vulnerable Democrats have to decide for themselves.

"Each member of Congress will vote their conscience and vote their heart and vote their mind. But the evidence is overwhelming," Maloney said.
