Five people, including boys ages 10 and a 15, were shot in the Bronx on Wednesday afternoon, the city police department confirmed.

The shooting happened just before 4 p.m. near Courtlandt Avenue and East 152nd Street in the Melrose section of the Bronx, about a block away from P.S.1. It's unclear if any of the victims were students or employees at the school.

The victims were transported to a local hospital and were expected to survive, the city fire department said.

Police said the other victims are a 19-year-old woman, a 20-year-old man, and a 36-year-old woman.

The details of what led to the shooting, and the identities of the victims, are unconfirmed at this time.

Police have not confirmed any arrests.
