BRONX, N.Y. - More than a dozen police officers were injured while responding to a fire in the Bronx late Wednesday night.

Those flames are now under control.

The FDNY says the call came in just after 11 p.m. for a fire on the second and third floor of an apartment building located at 4360 Baychester Avenue in Wakefield.

Police were at the scene knocking on doors to evacuate residents.

Fourteen officers and one other person were sent to the hospital for smoke inhalation.

All injuries were minor.

Fire officials are working to determine the cause of the fire.
