NEW YORK - The Museum of Illusions at 14th Street and 8th Avenue in Manhattan's West Village has been open for a year.

The original launched in Croatia four years ago, making the New York City location the first to open in the U.S.

"We hope when people come to the museum that they just have a lot of fun and something different, offer something different," said Justin Butler, Assistant Sales Director at the Museum of Illusions.

The museum is certainly an Instagrammers paradise but there's more to it because there's science behind how everything works.

"There's just some things that our  brains aren't equipped to calculate right away or when we are confronted with it, it doesn't make sense, it's just, illusions are our brains making the best of what we have," Butler said.

There's a giant kaleidoscope, a tilted room, and some puzzles that don't seem to make any sense at all upon first glance but in the end, they actually do. That's part of the reason why the museum has become a favorite spot for school groups as well.

Butler added, "They definitely are able to learn about how we perceive things or how the mind works. It's a lot of psychology goes into illusions, and a lot of psychologists have found our illusions."

The Museum of Illusions is open seven days a week and ticket prices range from $15 to $19 per person.
