NEW YORK - President Donald Trump, a lifelong New Yorker, says he is done with the city and is officially moving to Florida.

The New York Times says he filed a "declaration of domecile" listing his Mar-a-Lago estate in Palm Beach as his primary residence.

Trump was born in Queens, but his most recent residence was listed as Trump Tower in Manhattan.

He ran his presidential transition from the skyscraper on Fifth Avenue, and he has spent time there during trips to the city.

Those visits cause major traffic problems around Midtown as streets are closed for security reasons.

A person close to the president tells the Times that taxes are the main reason behind his decision to move south.

Florida has no state income tax and no inheritance tax.

Trump explained his decision in a series of tweets saying "despite the fact that I pay millions of dollars in city, state and local taxes each year, I have been treated very badly by the political leaders of both the city and state. Few have been treated worse."

He also said New York will always have a special place in his heart.

Two people who won't be sorry to see Trump go are Governor Andrew Cuomo and Mayor Bill de Blasio.

The governor tweeted "Good riddance. It's not like Trump paid taxes here anyway. He's all yours, Florida."

And the mayor tweeted, "Don’t let the door hit you on the way out or whatever."
