A convicted bank robber is awaiting sentencing for six Manhattan holdups last year, and has been arrested again.

This time, for allegedly robbing six more Manhattan banks in the past week.

Police say 32-year-old Spencer Heelan who is homeless was arrested yesterday, shortly after he walked away with five hundred dollars from the T-D bank on 6th avenue near west 21st street.

Police say Heelan confessed to targeting five other banks on Canal Street, Sixth Avenue and Penn Plaza in the last week.

Back in February, a judge released Heelan without bail in order to complete a drug program, after pleading guilty to robbing six banks in 2018.

Police say Heelan never finished the program and had been on the loose until yesterday's arrest.

Heelan is charged with two counts of robbery, two counts of attempted robbery and criminal possession of a controlled substance.

Police say Heelan went into heroin withdrawal after the arrest, and was taken to Bellevue Hospital.
