In Manhattan dads and their children got an early Halloween treat from a celebrity makeup artist that has worked with Beyonce for more than decade.

Sir John gave tips to people on how to make a ghoulish creation or something a little less scary.  The event on Saturday, October 12th was hosted by Facebook with the goal of bringing together fathers from across the city and country.

While they learned how to make a vampire, witch and even a lion face, Sir John says it's more about the time parents spend with their children.  "The goal is really just to have fun, it's not about to be perfect, and for example we did pirates, all it is is black eye with a string, whiskers and a mustache, and just having that much more of that connection, or coming across the table and having a bit more fun with your kids shouldn't just be seasonal or a holiday, it should be something we embrace all year."

In addition to getting a little festive makeup, kids were able to decorate their own cookies, paint pumpkins and even try on some Halloween costumes ahead of the big day.
