On Thursday, Governor Cuomo called into to NY1 to weigh in on a number of hot topics including the seized Brooklyn Pizzeria, the firing of NYPD Officer Pantaleo and the 'Summer of Andrew.'

Regarding Di Fara Pizza in Midwood which shut down Tuesday over money it owes to the state, Cuomo said, “Obviously we’d rather not see a business close at all, but if the conversation isn’t proceeding, we can’t allow a business to operate without repaying taxes. It wouldn’t be fair to anyone else.”

The governor joked on how he would not comment on who has the best pizza in the five boroughs.

The business has since reopened.

When asked if he agreed with the police commissioner’s decision to fire Officer Pantaleo, Cuomo said, “I believe that justice delayed is justice denied and I don’t think it should have taken five years to get to this point.”

The Police Benevolent Association president Patrick Lynch called on Gov. Cuomo to remove the mayor and is planning for his union to hold a vote of no-confidence in the mayor and police commissioner.

When asked how he would respond to the PBA president’s words, Cuomo said, “It seemed to me that it could have been handled better with the police officers. This was a very sensitive matter obviously for the police. They’re out there every day putting their lives on the line; they want to know that they have support.”

On a lighter topic, Governor Cuomo spoke on encouraging New Yorkers to take in state sights and landmarks. “There is no reason to leave the state of New York to go on vacation. Anything you want to do you can do right here in the state of New York.”
