NEW YORK - Two former New York Mets players have been linked to one of the biggest drug networks in the Dominican Republic.

Luis Castillo has been arrested and Octavio Dotel cited in the case.

Eighteen other people are also linked to the network.

The country's Attorney General says the group used the Dominican Republic as a bridge to transport drugs to the United States from South Africa.

Castillo spent 14 years in the big leagues and played for the Mets from 2007 to 2010.

His Mets career may be best remembered for a Subway Series game in 2009 when he dropped a pop-up that allowed the Yankees to score the tying and winning runs.

Dotel played 15 years in the majors.

He made his debut with the Mets and later pitched for the Yankees.
