NEW YORK - R&B singer R. Kelly is awaiting extradition to New York to face new federal charges of sexual misconduct.

The indictment unsealed Friday in the Eastern District of New York includes charges of racketeering, kidnapping, forced labor and the sexual exploitation of a child.

Kelly, 52, was arrested in Chicago on Thursday on a separate 13 count federal indictment that includes sex crimes and obstruction of justice.

Multiple reports say NYPD detectives and federal investigators took him into custody.

This is the second time this year Kelly has been arrested in Chicago on sex charges.

His publicist Darrell Johnson says their team was prepared for the new indictment.

"It's nothing different. We expected, Mr. Kelly was aware. Mr. Greenberg is a fine attorney, made Mr. Kelly aware of what was going to be happening. We're here today. We're prepared. We have a great cast of attorneys that's working on this case and we're looking forward to Mr. Kelly's day in court and he proving he's innocent," Johnson said.

The singer has faced mounting legal troubles after Lifetime aired a documentary that revisited sex abuse allegations against him.
