When cancer strikes, it is devastating. And when a cancer patient identifies in the LGBTQ community, the challenges are compounded. It is estimated that there’s about one million LGBTQ cancer survivors in the country. And now as June is both Pride Month and Cancer Survivor Month, we invited Dr. Chasity Burrows Walters from the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center’s LGBTQ Clinical Advisory Committee to join us.

Dr. Walters addresses the need for more data to help understand and address disparities among LGBTQ cancer patients and survivors. Members of the committee from the hospital will also march in the parade on Sunday.
