Two students at Newburgh Free Academy were arrested Monday — the latest in a string of arrests in connection to an attack on a fellow student.

Seven teenagers have now been arrested in an incident that started with a large fight by Downing Park earlier this month.

Police said a 16-year-old student was beaten and had his cell phone stolen. Police said he made it out with minor injuries.

Less than a week later, that same student was found with a knife while inside the school for a meeting.

He told police he did not feel safe and felt he was going to be targeted again.

He was disarmed, leaving intervening Resource Officer Humberto Perez with minor cuts.

Now police said they've been holding the teens who first attacked the student accountable. All seven are between the ages of 16 and 17 years old, and are all being charged as adults.

Each faces two counts for robbery in the second degree.
