The city is urging New Yorkers to take precautions Monday because of high winds that have already caused some damage around the boroughs.

A High Wind Warning was dropped earlier in the day, but a Wind Advisory was in place as of this writing.

The wind has been blamed for a tree falling on a car along Riverside Drive. The driver was not hurt, but the passenger was treated after she was struck in the face with glass, officials said.

The city fire department also tweeted a photo of a downed tree on the Henry Hudson Parkway. Fire department crews were on-hand to remove the giant tree limbs.

Some scaffolding came loose from a 12-story building on 5th Avenue near East 75th Street on the Upper East Side, resulting in some street closures.

Wind restrictions were also in effect for tractor trailers and motorcycles on the Whitestone and Verrazano Bridges.

The heavy winds are also impacting flight operations at LaGuardia Airport. Passengers should check with their airlines before heading out.

The Department of Buildings reminds property owners, crane operators, and contractors to secure construction sites, buildings and loose equipment.

There have been reports of flying debris and minor damages across parts of the city, including a broken window at a U.S. Post office in Lower Manhattan and an awning collapse on the Upper East Side.

Riders of the NYC Ferry could see some service disruptions because of the high winds.
