Governor Cuomo wants to stop state police from releasing mug shots and arrest booking records over invasion of privacy concerns.

The Governor says the move is aimed at curtailing the "internet shaming industry."

It includes websites that charge a fee with the claim they can remove information such as booking mug shots from the web.

Cuomo's proposal would ban the public release of booking photos and arrest information unless there is a compelling law enforcement reason to do so.

Some have come out in opposition to the measures, saying the move would infringe on transparency.
